Timeline

June 2024 - Present

At Music Thera-P, we believe in the transformative power of music to heal, inspire, and uplift. Our program is uniquely designed to support incarcerated individuals and high school youth as they heal, grow, and thrive through music education and creative expression. Founded by 4x Grammy Award-winning producers Cool & Dre, we provide a supportive and empowering environment where participants can explore and develop their artistic skills while discovering their own voice. Music Thera-P focuses on building a foundation in music engineering, songwriting, producing, and the music business, while also using music as a therapeutic tool to address trauma and foster emotional well-being.

My Role

As a co-founder of Music Thera-P, I have played a critical role in shaping the platform’s vision and mission. I manage partnerships and essential meetings that are key to expanding the program and its reach. My responsibilities include overseeing the development of our music curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of both incarcerated individuals and at-risk youth, and guiding the team through day-to-day decisions that support the growth of the platform. In addition, as a board member, I contribute to strategic planning, community outreach, and working to bring Music Thera-P into institutions across several states.

Goals for Music Thera-P

  • Develop Comprehensive Curriculum: Create a robust music curriculum to take inside institutions, focusing on music engineering, songwriting, producing, and music business.
  • Expand to Prisons: Offer our program in federal and state prisons to provide opportunities for rehabilitation and personal growth.
  • Support At-Risk Youth: Extend our program to at-risk youth, empowering them through creative expression and music education.
  • Empowerment Through Music: Use music education as a tool for personal empowerment, allowing participants to find their voice and develop new skills.
  • Promote Healing and Personal Growth: Use music therapy to help participants address trauma and promote emotional well-being.
  • Reduce Recidivism: Provide education and support that helps reduce recidivism by offering participants tools for a brighter, more independent future.
  • Foster Financial Independence: Equip participants with the skills needed to pursue careers in music and other creative fields, promoting financial independence.
  • Positive Institutional Impact: Create a positive impact within institutions by offering programs that foster creativity, healing, and personal development.
