HARP The Health and Reentry Project

As a HARP Advisory Committee Member, I am dedicated to improving the lives, health, and safety of justice-impacted individuals and their communities. The Health and Reentry Project (HARP) focuses on bridging the gap between carceral and community healthcare settings, advocating for policy changes that promote health equity and support successful reentry. HARP’s mission is to create transformational change by connecting diverse stakeholders, advancing innovative reentry approaches, and building a healthcare model that empowers individuals as they transition back into society.

In my advisory role, I use my experience in advocacy and leadership to guide HARP's initiatives aimed at strengthening reentry health care. I collaborate with other experts to develop strategies that address the unique challenges faced by justice-impacted individuals, ensuring they receive the support needed to return to their communities “healthy and whole.” By contributing to HARP’s vision, I help to amplify the voices of those directly impacted and foster policies that prioritize continuity of care and equitable access to services.

My Role

As an advisory committee member, I focus on policy development, stakeholder engagement, and community advocacy. My goal is to ensure that HARP’s approach to reentry health care is both innovative and grounded in the lived experiences of justice-impacted individuals, promoting sustainable health and safety improvements.

Goals for HARP

  • Strengthen Continuity of Care: Ensure seamless healthcare transitions from incarceration to community settings.
  • Promote Health and Well-being: Support justice-impacted individuals in returning to their communities with access to essential health services.
  • Advance Equity: Advocate for policies that provide equitable healthcare to underserved populations.
  • Support Evidence-based Services: Implement clinical and community-based services that are proven to enhance reentry outcomes.
  • Increase Access to Community Resources: Expand the availability of supportive services for individuals reentering society.
